- Mario's 4222 2nd Ave Detroit, MI 48201 (313) 832-1616Excellent food - went on a Sunday eve about 6:30 pm after going to the Detroit Symphony - the first thing we noticed were the older gentlemen waiters - all in tuxedos - a few younger ones too - we were seated right away with no prior reservations in the dining room - a small intimate room with a large fire place in the corner. When you order your dinner be ready - first you get a huge antipasto plate with olives, mortadella, salami, garlic/olive relish, sport peppers, shrimp and cocktail sauce.

- Traffic Jam & Snug Restaurant - Detroit (Second at Canfield)The Traffic Jam and Snug, established 1965, is truly one of Detroit's hidden treasures. Known throughout Midtown for our in-house bakery, microbrewery, and dairy, our curiously intimate multi-level dining rooms, and an eclectic menu of made-from-scratch dishes, there is simply nothing quite like The Traffic Jam.
We only use the best, freshest ingredients. We know this because we make everything ourselves. Each day, our bakery turns out a new Bread of the Day, from authentic ethnic crusted rolls and vegetable breads to whole grain sourdoughs and cheese loaves. In fact, head baker Pete Waldamier stopped keeping records of recipes years ago. A shamefully delicious selection of pies, cakes, and cookies are made here too, not to mention our very own hot fudge and ice cream. Our award-winning cheeses and beers are a local favorite. We actually use the same equipment for brewing beer and making cheese, and we encourage you to witness this unique process from our observation balcony. One popular lunchtime choice is our cheese platter, consisting of three of our finest cheeses, served with premium crackers, fresh berries, and house-made honey dijon mustard. On December 18, 1992, after a decade-long legal battle, Michigan became the last Midwest state to enact a brewpub law. Since then, the Traffic Jam has been brewing an uncommon, ever-changing selection of hand-crafted beers. Take, for example, the Grand Theft Pilsner, or the Java Porter. Available in 14 or 22 oz. pours, or try them all with our 8 oz. sampler glasses.

- Giovanni Ristorante 330 S. Oakwood Blvd. Detroit, MI 313-841-0122Walking into Giovanni's today is not much different than it was being in the Cannarsa home during any of their special family gatherings. The same comfortable, congenial, atmosphere makes even distant strangers feel at home. Family photographs and antiques are displayed just as they were in Rosa's own living room. And just like home, the kitchen buzzes with activity preparing Rosa's traditional dishes as well as an endless gourmet of specialties created by Frances, Randy and their special staff. Today, Giovanni and Rosa's kitchen and dinning room are much larger. Their family, too, has expanded to the many friends who now enjoy what they have worked so hard to achieve.

- Caucus Club Restaurant - DetroitThe Caucus Club's classic cuisine has been recognized with many awards of distinction. Bobby Flay and his "Food Nation" visited Detroit and featured Caucus Club Sautéed Lake Perch and Oysters in Champagne Sauce. The television program can still be seen on the Food Network now and then! Two Classic drinks are featured at the Caucus Club. The Bullshot, a mixture of beef broth, vodka and spices has been served at the bar since 1952. Served during the Holiday's, the Tom and Jerry is a potent mixture of brandy and rums topped with meringue. Its roots can be traced back to colonial times. Divided into two rooms with a small kitchen in the middle the unique setup, lends itself to privacy. The Caucus club has hosted many parties through out its 50 plus years. You can take over the whole place or just one room. Detroit is a city that has seen many changes. The Caucus Club is a tribute to history. A place that is consistent on quality and service. A great place for business lunch, romantic dinner or a stop before the theatre, opera, sporting events or a night at the gaming tables.

- Union Street Saloon - Best Place to See or Be Seen - Detroit, MIIn the mid 90’s, Union Street became a full-fledged restaurant. We built a brand new kitchen in order to grow into our expanding market. We totally remodeled the Michigan Room in the exact replica of our art deco look in the main dining room.
Union Street continues to grow and expand into new areas. Our catering and in-house parties have grown along with our theatre crowd. Union Street is the neighborhood “hub” for community activities. We are committed to the community at-large, always working to improve the neighborhood we proudly represent!
