- Grosse Pointe Symphony Orchestra - classical symphonic musicThe Grosse Pointe Symphony Orchestra is a community orchestra dedicated to providing live, classical symphonic music to the community while providing an opportunity for local professionals and accomplished amateurs to perform the classics. The idea of forming an orchestra in Grosse Pointe was born early in 1953 when Thomas Nestor, Stanley Scotford and Alois Chronowski were having coffee together. A meeting was held in March at the home of Mrs. Robert MacDonald at which time the idea was further discussed by Bernard Whitley, Thomas Nestor and Mrs. MacDonald. Within a week the resolution was made by Mssrs. Nestor, Whitley, Chronowski, Cass Piotrowski and John Sweeny III to establish the Grosse Pointe Symphony Orchestra Society in order to promote and administer a community orchestra.

- The Southern Great Lakes Symphony OrchestraThe orchestra was known as the Allen Park Symphony until 1995, when it changed its name to reflect the fact that it has expanded its horizons. Its members come from all over Downriver, as well as from the entire Detroit metropolitan area, and the quality of its performances rival those of the best regional orchestras around the country. The Southern Great Lakes Symphony Orchestra is a professional group, and is constantly improving its repertoire and reputation. The orchestra is conducted by musical director Charles Greenwell, an excellent conductor and skilled orchestral programmer. In addition to his conducting prowess, Greenwell uses the sonorous voice that he possesses from his days at radio station WQRS to explain the nature and history of each piece that the orchestra is about to perform. This makes the programs much more meaningful to audience members, who are able to better appreciate the music.

- The Warren Symphony OrchestraSince its first season in 1973-74, the Warren Symphony has given many hundreds of concerts in the southeastern Michigan region. Three times in recent years it was voted "Outstanding Community Orchestra" at the Detroit Music Awards. Many Michigan soloists have appeared with the orchestra, as have international artists such as Ani and Ida Kavafian, dance companies such as Eisenhower Dance Ensemble and the Kyiv Ballet, and popular attractions such as P.D.Q. Bach, Corky Siegel, and Robert Goulet. The Warren Symphony's educational programs bring thousands of youngsters to an orchestra concert for the first time, as well as numerous ensembles who perform in school classrooms. As a millennium celebration, the Symphony established an innovative program, "Kids Composing," with the aid of a major grant from the Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan.
