The Chamber Music Society of Detroit, founded in 1944, has emerged as one of the most prestigious presenters of world-class chamber music in the United States today. The tenth oldest of such organizations recognized by Chamber Music America, the Chamber Music Society of Detroit remains dedicated to presenting the world's most outstanding composers and performers of standard classical repertoire and contemporary works. Now in its 64th season, the Chamber Music Society of Detroit has achieved unparalleled success - with audience and corporate support thriving at a time when many arts organizations across the country have not been able to survive. With all available seats to its series sold out, the Chamber Music Society of Detroit added a new 3-concert Piano Series to its offerings beginning with the 2004-2005 season. The Chamber Music Society of Detroit is a rare success story in today's challenging performing arts marketplace.

0 - Detroit Blues Society's Web Site
A group of people interested in acoustic blues music joined together to form an informal association. The first meeting was held on March 14, 1985. The name selected for the group was The Detroit Country and Classic Blues Society. Individuals had varied reasons to gather but shared a common love of acoustic music. Robert B. Jones, host of the WDET radio show “Blues from the Lowlands”, commented that he and others enjoyed touring musicians and wanted to have a place to jam with them during their Detroit visits. The Society was formed and met in the First Unitarian-Universalist Church in Detroit. Electric instruments were not allowed at the early Society meetings as they would have been too loud for the people hosting them. The Detroit Blues Club, a group formed by local blues musicians, was still in existence at that time but was fading fast as key member Bobo Jenkins had passed away.

The Detroit Concert Choir is an activity of the Detroit Performing Artists whose mission it is to provide and encourage choral music and facilitate the education of its members and the public in the performance and appreciation of quality musical literature, also promoting the social and artistic cooperation among members and other allied arts. The organization will be the standard-bearers of quality choral and instrumental music for their community, country, and world through concerts and competitions regionally, nationally, and internationally.

Through an uncompromising commitment to Presentation, Education, and the Creation of new work, the University Musical Society (UMS) serves Michigan audiences by bringing to our community an ongoing series of world-class artists, who represent the diverse spectrum of today's vigorous and exciting live performing arts world. For more than a century, strong leadership, coupled with a devoted community, has placed UMS in a league of internationally-recognized performing arts presenters. With a program steeped in music, dance, and theater, UMS contributes to a vibrant cultural community by presenting approximately 60-75 performances and over 100 free educational activities each season. UMS also commissions new work, sponsors artist residencies, and organizes collaborative projects with local, national, and international partners. While proudly affiliated with the University of Michigan and housed on the U-M campus, UMS is a separate not-for-profit organization that supports itself from ticket sales, grants, contributions, and endowment income. The Ann Arbor Swing Dance Association (AASDA) promotes and sponsors the traditional swing dances with roots in the decades of the 1920's-1940's such as charleston, lindy hop, collegiate shag, east coast swing, balboa, and blues. We love these dances and want to share our passion with you! Our goal is to bring lessons and workshops to the Ann Arbor swing dance community, and to promote the swing dancing venues in the area. MOVE DOWN ON THE PAGE: The Ford Ballroom Dance Club provides the opportunity for everyone to experience the world of ballroom dancing. Classes are taught by top local professional dance instructors at a beginner to intermediate level. Our classes are geared toward the social level rather than the technical level of dance teaching. You do not need to be a Ford Employee to come to our dances. We have four to five dances per year that are held in the most elegant settings. Join the Ford Ballroom Dance Club for a great social activity, it's also a moderate level of exercise.

Tonia Deliz is a professional ballroom and Latin dancer who has been successfully performing and instructing in the metro Detroit area for the past 20 years. Previously an instructor and manager for Arthur Murray’s for 9 years. She has been an independent owner and instructor for 11 years. Her extensive training includes figure skating, tap, jazz, modern, Latin and Ballroom dance. Tonia is registered with the national Dance Council of America and is certified in Latin and Ballroom. She has won several professional and top teacher awards. Tonia's passion is teaching choreography for weddings, competitions, etc. She is one of the most versatile dancers.
