More about our Camper
The camper is a 2003. We purchased it during the NOVI camping expo in the winter of 2003 as a late model. We did not receive or use it until the spring of 2004. Easter Weekend to be exact! We went through both 20 lb. propane tanks for the furnace to keep warm!
Originally we wanted to buy a travel trailer, but we had two constraints. One, we had a Caravan and didn’t want to purchase a new larger vehicle, and two; I wanted to store the unit indoors.
Because of this, we realized that it would have to be a pop-up. We had the money to purchase the trailer, so we put all the extras on the pop-up…air conditioning, potty, duel propane tanks, add-a-room, double awnings, etc. And we went with Coleman because we wanted the best. The unit cost us $14,000. The camper was used a dozen times in 2004, another dozen times in 2005, twice in 2006 and not at all this summer…thus we are selling it. It has been to the U.P. once and into Indiana once. The rest of the trips were all pretty much local weekenders. It has been stored each winter in my garage, which gives me 3 inches of clearance to bring down the garage door. The reason we have slowed in using it is because my in-laws built a place on a lake up north and that’s now were we go when we want to get away.
The condition of the camper is exceptional. I have kept it on a preventative maintenance schedule from day one. All lubricants are replaced each year, and the water system is purged and filled with antifreeze each winter. It is currently prepped for winter storage.
Because we had the Caravan, a light front wheel drive vehicle, we put a very nice weight distribution hitch on the unit as well as a sway bar. These are included with the camper's price. The camper easily cruises at 70 mph. Even in heavy cross winds, the trailer stays right in place behind the van.
